It has been shown to inhibit the growth of prostate adenocarcinoma cells in a concentration dependent manner. The mechanism by which 3,5-dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole inhibits cancer cell proliferation is not known. However, it has been shown to prevent the uptake of anticancer agents in human lung cells. This compound also exhibited anticancer activity against several types of cancer cell lines and was found to be more potent than cisplatin in some cases. 3,5-Dimethyl-1,2,4-triazole has also been synthesised and its crystal structure determined using x-ray crystallography.
