:Limaprost
Description:
Limaprost is a synthetic prostaglandin analog primarily used for its vasodilatory effects, particularly in the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases and conditions associated with impaired blood flow. It is characterized by its ability to enhance blood circulation by relaxing vascular smooth muscle, which can lead to improved oxygen delivery to tissues. Limaprost is often administered in the form of oral tablets or injections, depending on the clinical indication. The substance exhibits a relatively short half-life, necessitating careful dosing to maintain therapeutic levels. Its mechanism of action involves the activation of specific prostaglandin receptors, which mediate various physiological responses, including inhibition of platelet aggregation and modulation of inflammatory processes. Additionally, Limaprost may have side effects such as headache, flushing, or gastrointestinal disturbances, which should be monitored during treatment. As with any medication, its use should be guided by a healthcare professional, considering the patient's overall health status and potential drug interactions.

CAS:<p>Limaprost is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that belongs to the group of coumarin derivatives. It is used in the treatment of diabetic neuropathy, and has also been shown to reduce blood levels of cholesterol. Limaprost can be administered orally or topically, and blocks prostaglandin synthesis by inhibiting cyclooxygenase. Limaprost is available as a tablet and injection for oral use. The drug is also used for relief of pain in osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and other musculoskeletal disorders. Limaprost is metabolized by esterases in the liver to form desacetyllimaprost (DALP), which has approximately one-third the potency of limaprost. DALP's metabolites are excreted primarily through bile into the intestine, where they are reabsorbed back into the bloodstream.
