CAS 7446-81-3
:Sodium acrylate
Description:
Sodium acrylate is the sodium salt of polyacrylic acid, characterized by its white crystalline appearance and hygroscopic nature. It is soluble in water, forming a viscous solution, and is known for its ability to absorb water and swell, making it useful in various applications. The substance has a high degree of polymerization potential, allowing it to be used in the production of superabsorbent polymers, which are commonly found in products like diapers and agricultural applications. Sodium acrylate is also utilized in the formulation of adhesives, coatings, and as a dispersant in various industrial processes. Its chemical structure features a carboxylate group, which contributes to its reactivity and interaction with other compounds. While generally considered safe for use in many applications, appropriate handling and safety measures should be observed, as with any chemical substance. Overall, sodium acrylate is valued for its versatility and effectiveness in enhancing the properties of materials in diverse fields.

CAS:
Sodium acrylate is a monomer used in the production of acrylic acid and polyacrylic acid. It is synthesized from ethylene glycol, acetic acid, and sodium hydroxide. Sodium acrylate has been shown to inhibit the growth of solid tumours and autoimmune diseases in animal models. Sodium acrylate also has a low phase transition temperature, which makes it a good candidate for use as a polymerization initiator. Sodium acrylate can be used in the production of polyacrylic acid with benzalkonium chloride or sodium citrate as an additive to prevent polymerization inhibition. The long-term toxicity of sodium acrylate has not been determined; however, short-term toxicities have been observed with eye disorders and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
Formula:C3H3NaO2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:94.04 g/mol
