:C8-Ceramide
Description:
C8-Ceramide, also known as N-octanoyl sphingosine, is a type of ceramide, which is a class of lipid molecules composed of sphingosine and a fatty acid. Specifically, C8-Ceramide features an octanoyl (C8) fatty acid chain, contributing to its unique properties. This compound is characterized by its hydrophobic nature due to the long hydrocarbon chain, which allows it to integrate into biological membranes effectively. C8-Ceramide plays a crucial role in cellular signaling and is involved in various biological processes, including cell differentiation, apoptosis, and inflammation. It is also recognized for its potential applications in skincare and cosmetic formulations, where it can help restore the skin barrier and retain moisture. Additionally, C8-Ceramide can exhibit antimicrobial properties and may be studied for its effects on skin health and disease. Its stability and compatibility with other ingredients make it a valuable component in both pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.

CAS:
C8-Ceramide is a glucosylceramide that is involved in the production of C8-ceramides. It has shown to have potent apoptosis activity and inhibit p21, an inhibitor of cell cycle progression. C8-Ceramide also has been shown to be an inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) induced inflammation and apoptosis in mouse tumor cells. In addition, it can induce apoptosis by inhibiting the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) pathway. This polymerase chain reaction (PCR) product was found to bind to DNA in a model system using calf thymus DNA as well as bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV enzymes.
Formula:C26H51NO3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:425.69 g/molC-8 Ceramide
