    <p>1-(4-Aminophenyl)-4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)piperazine (1APHP) is a potential antiviral drug. It has been shown to bind to viral proteins and inhibit the release of viral particles. 1APHP binds to the active site of the helicase-primase enzyme that is necessary for viral replication, thereby preventing the synthesis of new DNA. 1APHP has been shown to exhibit anticancer activity in animal cancer cell lines and in bone cancer cells. 1APHP inhibits cancer cell growth by inducing apoptosis via a multistep process that includes inhibition of protein synthesis, induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress, and activation of caspases. The crystal structure and diffraction data have been elucidated using X-ray crystallography and X-ray diffraction respectively. Molecular docking studies were performed with HIV protease as a model system to study possible interactions between 1APHP and HIV protease.</p>
