4,6-Diaminopyridine-3-carbonitrile (CAS No. 20520-22-4) is a synthetic dyestuff with red color and low solubility in water. It has been used as a dye for polyester and other synthetic fibers. The dye is soluble in organic solvents such as ethoxycarbonylethyl acetate and benzene, but insoluble in water. In addition to the red color, 4,6-diaminopyridine-3-carbonitrile has good lightfastness properties. This chemical is also a precursor to diazotized compounds that can be used to produce hydrogenated hydrocarbons.
