    2-Bromomethyl anthraquinone (2BMAA) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell growth by inhibiting fatty acid synthesis and by binding to fatty acid receptors on the surface of tumor cells. 2BMAA also inhibits cancer cell proliferation by preventing the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c oxidase to oxygen, preventing the formation of superoxide anions, and suppressing lipid peroxidation. The photophysical properties of 2BMAA have been studied using cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical studies. 2BMAA is a potent inhibitor of bladder cancer in mice, with a diameter inhibition ranging from 40% at 10 µM to 100% at 70 µM.
