CAS 76-42-6
:(-)-Oxycodone
Description:
(-)-Oxycodone, with the CAS number 76-42-6, is a semi-synthetic opioid analgesic derived from thebaine, a natural alkaloid found in opium poppy. It is primarily used for the management of moderate to severe pain, often in cases where other pain relief methods are insufficient. The substance exhibits a complex chemical structure that includes a phenanthrene core, which contributes to its potent analgesic properties. (-)-Oxycodone acts primarily as a mu-opioid receptor agonist, leading to its effectiveness in pain relief, but it also interacts with kappa and delta opioid receptors to a lesser extent. The compound is known for its potential for abuse and dependence, necessitating careful regulation and monitoring in clinical settings. In terms of pharmacokinetics, (-)-Oxycodone is well-absorbed when administered orally, with a bioavailability that can vary based on formulation. Common side effects include sedation, constipation, and respiratory depression, highlighting the importance of cautious dosing and patient assessment during treatment.

CAS:Controlled Product<p>Oxycodone is a synthetic opioid used to relieve moderate-to-severe pain. It is the most potent of the naturally occurring opiates and has a low potency in comparison to other opioids, such as morphine. Oxycodone is available as a single agent, but also in combination preparations with paracetamol or ibuprofen for relief of moderate-to-severe pain. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, constipation, itching and sweating. Oxycodone has been shown to have significant drug interactions with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and may be associated with an increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Evidence suggests that oxycodone can decrease platelet aggregation by inhibiting cyclooxygenase activity and prolong bleeding time by interfering with platelet function through inhibition of thromboxane A2 synthesis. Oxycodone binds to kappa-opioid receptors, which are involved in the modulation of pain perception and mood regulation.
