L-Tyrosine, O-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenyl)-3,5-diiodo-, ethyl ester

Description:
L-Tyrosine, O-(4-hydroxy-3,5-diiodophenyl)-3,5-diiodo-, ethyl ester, identified by the CAS number 76353-71-4, is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of iodinated tyrosine derivatives. This substance features a tyrosine backbone, which is an amino acid important in protein synthesis and neurotransmitter production. The compound is characterized by the presence of multiple iodine atoms, specifically at the 3 and 5 positions of the aromatic ring, which can significantly influence its biological activity and stability. The ethyl ester functional group enhances its lipophilicity, potentially affecting its absorption and distribution in biological systems. Iodinated compounds like this one are often studied for their applications in medicinal chemistry, particularly in the development of radiopharmaceuticals and imaging agents due to the radioactive properties of iodine isotopes. Additionally, the presence of hydroxyl groups may contribute to its reactivity and interactions with other biological molecules. Overall, this compound exemplifies the intricate relationship between structure and function in biochemical contexts.

  • Thyroxine ethyl ester

    CAS:
Thyroxine ethyl ester is a hormone that is used to treat hypothyroidism. It is taken by mouth and has a low absorption rate when taken orally. Thyroxine ethyl ester binds to iodothyronine receptors in the thyroid gland and activates them, leading to increased production of the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). The uptake of thyroxine ethyl ester into the body can be inhibited by sodium salts or other compounds that bind to it. Thyroxine ethyl ester does not affect cholesterol levels or lipid levels, but it does increase plasma cholesterol. This drug also has no effect on light emission or on conjugates. Immobilized thyroxine ethyl ester has been shown to be insensitive to the inhibitory effects of TSH on its production in vitro.
