:Ketoprofen glucuronide
Description:
Ketoprofen glucuronide is a metabolite of ketoprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly used for pain relief and inflammation reduction. This compound is formed through the conjugation of ketoprofen with glucuronic acid, a process that enhances its solubility and facilitates excretion from the body. Ketoprofen glucuronide is characterized by its relatively high polarity compared to its parent compound, which affects its pharmacokinetics and bioavailability. It typically exhibits lower biological activity than ketoprofen itself, serving primarily as a means of detoxification. The substance is often analyzed in pharmacokinetic studies to understand the metabolism of ketoprofen and its elimination pathways. Its presence in biological samples can indicate the use of ketoprofen and help in monitoring therapeutic levels or potential drug interactions. As with many metabolites, the specific characteristics such as solubility, stability, and reactivity can vary based on environmental conditions and the presence of other substances.

CAS:
Ketoprofen acyl-β-D-glucuronide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. It binds to the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which prevents the formation of prostaglandins and thromboxanes. The binding constants have been measured using radiolabeled ketoprofen acyl-β-D-glucuronide in urine samples from patients taking ketoprofen. Ketoprofen acyl-β-D-glucuronide has also been shown to be stereoselective for liver cells and fatty acid metabolism in humans. This drug has not been shown to produce covalent adducts with DNA or RNA.
Formula:C22H22O9Purity:Min. 97 Area-%Color and Shape:White Off-White PowderMolecular weight:430.4 g/mol
