It is a member of the class of phenylcoumarins, which are benzene derivatives that contain a phenyl group and a coumarin ring. The data showed that dopentacontane reduces the adverse effects of benzene exposure by decreasing oxidative stress and increasing antioxidant enzymes. This compound has also been shown to have magnetic properties, which may be due to its high molecular weight and planar structure.
