CAS 7727-73-3
:Sodium sulfate decahydrate
Description:
Sodium sulfate decahydrate, with the chemical formula Na2SO4·10H2O and CAS number 7727-73-3, is a crystalline solid that appears as a white, odorless powder. It is a hydrated form of sodium sulfate, containing ten water molecules for each formula unit. This compound is highly soluble in water, making it useful in various applications, including as a drying agent, in the manufacture of detergents, and in the glass industry. Sodium sulfate decahydrate exhibits a high melting point and can undergo dehydration to form anhydrous sodium sulfate upon heating. It is stable under normal conditions but can deliquesce in humid environments, absorbing moisture from the air. The compound is non-toxic and generally regarded as safe for use in food and pharmaceuticals, although it should be handled with care to avoid inhalation of dust or prolonged skin contact. Its crystalline structure can change with temperature, leading to different polymorphic forms, which can affect its physical properties and solubility.

CAS:Controlled Product
Sodium sulphate decahydrate is an inorganic salt that is a salt of sodium and sulfuric acid. It is used as a food additive, preservative, and to control the pH of water. Sodium sulfate decahydrate has been shown to be effective for the treatment of diarrhoea caused by infectious diseases such as rotavirus and enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli. This drug also has inhibitory effects on bacterial growth and may be useful for the prevention or treatment of bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the anions in this compound make it highly reactive, which can result in toxic side effects. However, this drug has not exhibited any toxic side effects at concentrations below 0.5%.
Formula:H22Na2O14SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:324.21 g/molRef: 3D-FS35057
