CAS:1-Boc-4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine is a modification of piperazine that has potent activity against amyloid plaques. It is a cyclase inhibitor and can be used to treat Alzheimer's disease. 1-Boc-4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine inhibits the production of amyloid beta protein by interfering with the formation of its precursor, amyloid beta peptide. The compound binds to the active site of cyclases and prevents ATP from binding, inhibiting the synthesis of amyloid beta protein. 1-Boc-4-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine can also be used as a treatment for other diseases including Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury.
