CAS:2-(3-Bromophenyl)benzimidazole is a benzimidazole derivative that is synthesized from benzimidazole and ammonium chloride. It can be used as a catalyst for the condensation of an aldehyde with a chloride in the presence of ammonium ions. 2-(3-Bromophenyl)benzimidazole was found to be active against a range of bacteria, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), penicillin-resistant Streptococcus pneumoniae, and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis. This compound has also been shown to be active against Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
