CAS 78-44-4
:Carisoprodol
Description:
Carisoprodol is a centrally acting muscle relaxant commonly used to relieve muscle pain and discomfort associated with acute musculoskeletal conditions. It is classified as a carbamate derivative and functions primarily by interrupting neuronal communication within the reticular formation and spinal cord, leading to sedation and muscle relaxation. The substance is typically administered orally and is known for its rapid onset of action. Carisoprodol is metabolized in the liver to its active metabolite, meprobamate, which contributes to its sedative effects. The chemical formula for carisoprodol is C12H24N2O4S, and it has a molecular weight of approximately 256.39 g/mol. It is generally well-absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, but its use is associated with potential side effects, including drowsiness, dizziness, and dependence, particularly with prolonged use. Due to these risks, carisoprodol is classified as a controlled substance in several jurisdictions, necessitating careful prescribing and monitoring by healthcare professionals.

CAS:Controlled Product
Carisoprodol is a synthetic compound that is used as a reaction component, reagent, and useful scaffold in the synthesis of pharmaceuticals. Carisoprodol has been shown to be a high-quality research chemical with versatile building blocks. It can be used as an intermediate in the synthesis of complex compounds such as anticonvulsants and muscle relaxants. CAS:Controlled Product
2-Methyl-2-propyl-1,3-propanediol carbamate isopropylcarbamate (2MPPC) is a prodrug that is metabolized to carisoprodol. It has been shown to have a high affinity for the neuronal death receptor, TNFRSF25, and can cause neuronal death in vitro. In vivo studies show that 2MPPC causes axonal growth and promotes locomotor activity. 2MPPC also inhibits the production of prostaglandin E2 and nitric oxide, which may be due to its inhibition of cyclooxygenase 1 and nitric oxide synthase 1. Clinical pathology studies reveal that 2MPPC does not cause toxicity at therapeutic doses. Histological analysis shows that 2MPPC does not affect the granule neurons in the dentate gyrus region of the hippocampus.
Formula:C12H24N2O4Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:260.33 g/molCarisoprodol (1 mg/ml in Methanol)
