:4,4'-isopropylidenebis[o-chlorophenol]
Description:
4,4'-Isopropylidenebis[o-chlorophenol], also known as bis(2-chlorophenyl) isopropylidene, is an organic compound characterized by its two chlorophenol groups linked by an isopropylidene bridge. This compound typically appears as a solid at room temperature and is known for its distinctive aromatic structure, which contributes to its chemical stability and reactivity. The presence of chlorine atoms on the phenolic rings enhances its potential for various applications, including as a biocide or in the synthesis of other chemical compounds. It exhibits moderate solubility in organic solvents, while being less soluble in water due to its hydrophobic nature. The compound's molecular structure allows for potential interactions with biological systems, making it of interest in both industrial and research contexts. Safety considerations are important, as it may pose risks associated with chlorinated compounds, including toxicity and environmental impact. Proper handling and disposal protocols should be followed to mitigate any hazards associated with its use.

CAS:
3,3'-Dichlorobisphenol A is a chlorine-containing organic compound that is used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics. It has been found to be genotoxic and carcinogenic in animals. 3,3'-Dichlorobisphenol A is also toxic to aquatic organisms and may persist for long periods in the environment. 3,3'-Dichlorobisphenol A enters wastewater when it is released during the production of polycarbonate plastics or as a byproduct of other chlorination reactions. The most common method for removing 3,3'-dichlorobisphenol A from wastewater is to use UV irradiation followed by chlorine gas treatment. This process can lead to the formation of additional chlorinated compounds that are more toxic than 3,3'-dichlorobisphenol A.
Formula:C15H14Cl2O2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:297.18 g/mol
