CAS:Boc-L-alanine aldehyde is an isostere that can be used as a replacement for the amino acid L-alanine. It has been shown to have clinical use in the treatment of various diseases, including cancer, although it is not labelled for use. Boc-L-alanine aldehyde is synthesized by oxidation of L-alanine and its stereoselective synthesis has been demonstrated by ion exchange chromatography. The biosynthesis of this molecule has also been modeled using molecular modelling techniques. Boc-L-alanine aldehyde was modelled using quantum chemical calculations and was found to be enantiopure. This molecule can be used as the building block for peptidomimetics, which are molecules that mimic peptides with biological activity. Catalysis of this molecule has also been studied extensively.
