20-Carboxyleukotriene B4

Description:
20-Carboxyleukotriene B4 is a bioactive lipid mediator derived from arachidonic acid, primarily involved in inflammatory responses. It is a member of the leukotriene family, which are eicosanoids that play crucial roles in immune function and inflammation. This compound is characterized by its carboxylic acid functional group, which contributes to its polar nature, allowing it to interact with specific receptors on cell surfaces. 20-Carboxyleukotriene B4 is known for its potent chemotactic properties, attracting immune cells to sites of inflammation. It is also involved in various physiological processes, including bronchoconstriction and modulation of vascular permeability. The compound is typically synthesized in the body through enzymatic pathways involving lipoxygenases. Its stability and reactivity can be influenced by environmental factors, such as pH and temperature. Due to its role in inflammatory diseases, it has garnered interest in pharmacological research, particularly in developing therapeutic agents targeting leukotriene pathways. Understanding its characteristics is essential for exploring its potential implications in health and disease.

    CAS:
<p>20-COOH-ltb4 is a fatty acid that has been shown to induce chemotaxis in polymorphonuclear leucocytes, which are white blood cells involved in the body's defense against infection. It also induces cell lysis and eosinophil peroxidase activity, which are both proinflammatory responses. 20-COOH-ltb4 has been shown to induce inflammatory bowel disease in rats by inducing the release of reactive oxygen species that cause injury to the colonic epithelium. In addition, 20-COOH-ltb4 has been shown to be effective against bowel disease in mice. This compound binds to the cytosolic protein and inhibits its function by preventing ATP production. 20-COOH-ltb4 also inhibits protein synthesis by binding to adenine nucleotide and diazonium salt.</p>
