Bis(6-hydroxyhexyl)disulfide
CAS:Formula:C12H26O2S2Purity:95%Color and Shape:SolidMolecular weight:266.4636Bis-(6-hydroxyhexyl)disulfide
CAS:Bis-(6-hydroxyhexyl)disulfide is a reactive organic solvent. It is used for the reduction of polymers to their monomers, and as a phase transfer catalyst for organic synthesis. Bis-(6-hydroxyhexyl)disulfide can be used to synthesize gold nanoparticles by reducing gold chloride with hydrazine in the presence of bis-(6-hydroxyhexyl)disulfide. The resultant gold nanoparticles are dispersed in an organic solvent such as ethyl acetate. The reaction requires covalent bonds and the transfer of electrons from one molecule to another via disulfide bonds. Redispersion of the nanoparticles can be achieved through ultrasonic waves or shaking, which breaks down the hydrogen bonds between molecules and redisperses them into a uniform suspension.Formula:C12H26O2S2Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:266.5 g/mol
