2-{Bicyclo[2.2.1]hept-5-en-2-yl}acetic acid is a monomer that is able to be encapsulated. This monomer has been shown to have selective functionalities in the polymerization of ethylene and other reactive monomers. It has also been shown to react with chlorine, leading to increased stability in the presence of light and heat, as well as being able to act as a catalyst for polymerization reactions.
