    <p>2-Phenylisobutyric acid is a colorless to white crystalline solid with a molecular weight of 218.29 g/mol and a melting point of 120-122 °C. It is soluble in water, but not in alcohol or ether. 2-Phenylisobutyric acid is used as an intermediate for pharmaceutical preparations and as a reagent for organic synthesis. It is also used to produce thiomorpholine, which has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be used in the treatment of bowel disease.
