:Riboflavin
Description:
Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in energy metabolism and the maintenance of healthy skin, eyes, and nerve functions. It is a yellow-orange crystalline compound with the chemical formula C17H20N4O6 and a molecular weight of approximately 376.37 g/mol. Riboflavin is sensitive to light and can degrade when exposed to ultraviolet light, which is why it is often stored in opaque containers. It is soluble in water and slightly soluble in alcohol, but insoluble in fats and oils. Riboflavin is essential for the conversion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into energy, as it is a precursor to the coenzymes flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). Deficiency in riboflavin can lead to symptoms such as sore throat, redness and swelling of the lining of the mouth and throat, cracks on the outsides of the lips (cheilosis), and inflammation and redness of the tongue (magenta tongue). It is commonly found in foods such as eggs, dairy products, green leafy vegetables, and fortified cereals.

CAS:
Riboflavin galactoside (RGG) is a fluorescent compound that can be used as a marker for cell proliferation. It is particularly useful in immunohistochemical techniques, which are used to detect the presence of antigens in tissue. RGG is sensitive to light, and thus it can be detected using techniques such as disintegrations per minute (DPM). RGG has been shown to be an efficient cellular target for amplifying RNA in cells. This compound also interacts with molecules that are involved in cellular growth and development, including antibodies.
Formula:C23H30N4O11Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:538.5 g/mol
