CAS 83048-65-1
:Heptadecafluorodecyltrimethoxysilane
Description:
Heptadecafluorodecyltrimethoxysilane, with the CAS number 83048-65-1, is a silane compound characterized by its long hydrophobic fluorinated alkyl chain and three methoxy groups. This structure imparts unique properties, making it an effective surface modifier and hydrophobic agent. The presence of the heptadecafluorodecyl group contributes to its low surface energy and excellent water and oil repellency, which are desirable in various applications, including coatings, textiles, and electronics. The trimethoxysilane functionality allows for covalent bonding to siliceous surfaces, enhancing adhesion and durability. Additionally, this compound exhibits thermal stability and resistance to chemical degradation, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. Its fluorinated nature also provides resistance to staining and fouling, further broadening its applicability in industrial and consumer products. Safety considerations should be taken into account, as fluorinated compounds can have environmental implications, and proper handling procedures should be followed.

(HEPTADECAFLUORO-1,1,2,2-TETRAHYDRODECYL)TRIMETHOXYSILANE
CAS:
Fluorinated Alkyl Silane - Conventional Surface Bonding
Aliphatic, fluorinated aliphatic or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon substituents are the hydrophobic entities which enable silanes to induce surface hydrophobicity. The organic substitution of the silane must be non-polar. The hydrophobic effect of the organic substitution can be related to the free energy of transfer of hydrocarbon molecules from an aqueous phase to a homogeneous hydrocarbon phase. A successful hydrophobic coating must eliminate or mitigate hydrogen bonding and shield polar surfaces from interaction with water by creating a non-polar interphase. Although silane and silicone derived coatings are in general the most hydrophobic, they maintain a high degree of permeability to water vapor. This allows coatings to breathe and reduce deterioration at the coating interface associated with entrapped water. Since ions are not transported through non-polar silane and silicone coatings, they offer protection to composite structures ranging from pigmented coatings to rebar reinforced concrete. A selection guide for hydrophobic silanes can be found on pages 22-31 of the Hydrophobicity, Hydrophilicity and Silane Surface Modification brochure.
(Heptadecafluoro-1,1,2,2-tetrahydrodecyl)trimethoxysilane; (1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorodecyl)trimethoxysilane; Heptadecafluorodecyltrimethoxysilane
Packaged over copper powderTreated surface contact angle, water: 115 °Cγc of treated surfaces: 12 mN/mSurface modification of titanium and silica substrates reduces coefficient of frictionForms inorganic hybrids with photoinduceable refractive index reductionTrialkoxy silane

Formula:C13H13F17O3SiPurity:97%Color and Shape:Straw LiquidMolecular weight:568.3Trimethoxy(1H,1H,2H,2H-heptadecafluorodecyl)silane
