:Ropivacaine
Description:
Ropivacaine is a local anesthetic belonging to the amide class, primarily used for regional anesthesia and pain management. It is characterized by its ability to block nerve conduction by inhibiting sodium ion influx through voltage-gated sodium channels, leading to a reversible loss of sensation in targeted areas. Ropivacaine is known for its relatively lower cardiotoxicity compared to other local anesthetics, making it a preferred choice in certain clinical settings. The substance is typically administered via injection and is available in various concentrations. Its pharmacokinetic profile includes a slower onset and longer duration of action, which can be advantageous for prolonged analgesia. Ropivacaine is also noted for its lower potential for systemic toxicity, allowing for safer use in epidural and peripheral nerve blocks. Additionally, it has a chiral center, existing as a single enantiomer, which contributes to its efficacy and safety profile. Overall, Ropivacaine is a valuable agent in the field of anesthesiology and pain management.

CAS:Controlled Product
Ropivacaine is an amide local anesthetic that is used to provide pain relief during surgery. It can also be used in other medical procedures, such as endoscopy and diagnostic angiography. Ropivacaine binds to the α1-acid glycoprotein in the blood, which prevents its passage into the central nervous system. Ropivacaine has been shown to have a polymerase chain-reaction (PCR) assay of clinical properties and a matrix effect on bupivacaine. Injection solutions containing ropivacaine are available with concentrations between 0.5% and 2%. The optimum concentration depends on the type of procedure being performed and the desired duration of anesthesia. Ropivacaine has also been shown to have cardiac effects, including an increase in heart rate, but does not appear to interfere with cardiac conduction or contractility. It also provides analgesia by blocking nerve impulses from reaching the brain.
Formula:C17H26N2OPurity:Min. 98 Area-%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:274.4 g/mol
