• Ethyl 5-(bromomethyl)-1,2-oxazole-3-carboxylate

    CAS:

Ethyl 5-(bromomethyl)-1,2-oxazole-3-carboxylate (EBOMC) is a lead compound for the treatment of tuberculosis. EBOMC inhibits bacterial growth by binding to DNA-dependent RNA polymerase, thereby preventing transcription and replication. It has been shown that EBOMC inhibits replicating bacteria in vitro and in animals, while nonreplicating bacteria are inhibited at lower concentrations. EBOMC also has the ability to modify carboxylic groups and alkene linkers. This drug is metabolized by the liver and excreted through the kidneys. High doses of EBOMC have been shown to cause neurotoxicity in animal studies.
