Necrostatin 2

Necrostatin 2 is an inhibitor of the protein kinase C (PKC) that has been shown to prevent neuronal death in vitro. Necrostatin 2 is a potent inhibitor of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and it has been shown to inhibit the increase in cytosolic calcium levels caused by TNF-α. It binds to human immunoglobulin G and inhibits casein kinase, which is involved in cellular signaling pathways. In vivo studies have shown that necrostatin 2 can protect neurons from damage caused by reactive oxygen species. It has also been found to be active against cancer cells and neovascularization, as well as age-related macular degeneration.
