CAS 86-77-1
:2-Dibenzofuranol
Description:
2-Dibenzofuranol, with the CAS number 86-77-1, is an organic compound characterized by its structure, which consists of a dibenzofuran moiety with a hydroxyl group (-OH) attached to the second position. This compound typically appears as a white to off-white solid and is known for its aromatic properties due to the presence of the dibenzofuran framework. It is soluble in organic solvents but has limited solubility in water, reflecting its hydrophobic nature. 2-Dibenzofuranol can participate in various chemical reactions, including oxidation and substitution, making it a useful intermediate in organic synthesis. Its derivatives may exhibit biological activity, and it has been studied for potential applications in pharmaceuticals and materials science. Safety data indicates that, like many organic compounds, it should be handled with care, as it may pose health risks if ingested or inhaled. Proper safety protocols should be followed when working with this substance in a laboratory setting.

CAS:
2-Hydroxydibenzofuran is a hydroxylated derivative of dibenzofuran, which has been shown to have significant cytotoxicity. 2-Hydroxydibenzofuran binds to the fatty acid binding site of the enzyme phospholipase A2, inhibiting the release of arachidonic acid and subsequent production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The hydroxyl group on 2-hydroxydibenzofuran may also serve as a hydrogen bond donor, which may synergize with other inhibitors. Biological studies have shown that 2-hydroxydibenzofuran has potent inhibitory activity against both phospholipase A2 and lipoxygenase. The mechanism of inhibition is not yet known but it is thought that it involves an electron transfer from the hydroxyl group to the active site in the enzyme.
Formula:C12H8O2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:184.19 g/molDibenzo[b,d]furan-2-ol
