Fibronectins

Description:
Fibronectins are high-molecular-weight glycoproteins that play a crucial role in cell adhesion, growth, migration, and differentiation. They are found in various tissues and are integral components of the extracellular matrix, providing structural support and facilitating communication between cells. Fibronectins exist in multiple isoforms due to alternative splicing of their mRNA, which allows for functional diversity in different biological contexts. They possess several binding sites for integrins, collagen, and other extracellular matrix components, enabling them to mediate cell attachment and influence cellular behavior. Fibronectins are also involved in wound healing and tissue repair processes. The CAS number 86088-83-7 specifically identifies a form of fibronectin, which may be used in research and clinical applications, including tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Overall, fibronectins are essential for maintaining tissue integrity and facilitating cellular interactions within the body.

  • Fibronectin - from rice endosperm cells

    CAS:
Fibronectin is a glycoprotein that is found in all tissues. It binds to cells and extracellular matrix proteins, such as collagen and laminin. Fibronectin is involved in cell growth and differentiation, wound healing, tissue repair, and tumor progression. It also acts as a growth factor for epidermal cells. Fibronectin has been shown to activate toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in mice with aneurysms. This activation leads to increased production of the inflammatory cytokine interleukin-1β (IL-1β) by macrophages in the brain’s carotid artery wall. Higher levels of IL-1β have been observed in pregnant women with symptoms of fibroids than those without symptoms. The therapeutic effects of retinoic acid or steroid therapy on fibroids are unclear because they do not affect TLR4 expression or IL-1β production.
