2-(6-Methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)propanenitrile is a naturally occurring amino acid that can be synthesized in the laboratory. It has been found to inhibit enzyme activities such as ammonium sulfate, microbial metabolism and amide formation in bacteria. 2-(6-Methoxynaphthalen-2-yl)propanenitrile also inhibits the growth of bacteria by blocking the synthesis of proteins, DNA and RNA.
