CAS:<p>3,5-Dimethylanisole is an ionophore that is used in the control of bacteria and fungi. It has been shown to have a linear calibration curve with an R2 value of 0.9763. The asymmetric synthesis of 3,5-dimethylanisole was achieved by using organometallic compounds (titanium tetrachloride) and isobutyraldehyde as starting materials. The reaction rate for this reaction can be increased by increasing the concentration of either titanium tetrachloride or isobutyraldehyde. 3,5-Dimethylanisole has been shown to inhibit the growth of both gram positive and gram negative bacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Streptococcus pyogenes.
