Furanoeudesma 1,3-diene

Furanoeudesma 1,3-diene is a chemical compound that has been shown to have potent antibacterial activity against bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus. Furanoeudesma 1,3-diene is a stereoselective inhibitor of the Gram-negative bacterial enzyme enoyl-ACP reductase (FabI). This inhibition prevents the production of fatty acids in bacteria, leading to cell death. Furanoeudesma 1,3-diene also has an inhibitory effect on chronic bronchitis. It can be found in skin care products or as an ingredient in lettuce leaves.
