:1-Naphthalenediazonium, 2-hydroxy-4-sulfo-, inner salt
Description:
1-Naphthalenediazonium, 2-hydroxy-4-sulfo-, inner salt, with CAS number 887-76-3, is a chemical compound characterized by its diazonium structure, which is a key feature in many organic reactions, particularly in azo coupling. This compound contains a naphthalene ring system, which contributes to its aromatic properties and stability. The presence of a hydroxyl group and a sulfonic acid group indicates that it is a sulfonated derivative, enhancing its solubility in water and making it useful in various applications, including dye chemistry and as an intermediate in organic synthesis. The inner salt form suggests that it exists as a zwitterion, balancing positive and negative charges within the molecule, which can influence its reactivity and interaction with other substances. Overall, this compound is significant in the field of organic chemistry, particularly in the synthesis of azo dyes and other aromatic compounds, due to its unique structural features and functional groups.

CAS:
1-Diazo-2-naphthol-4-sulfonic acid (1DNS) is a diazonium salt that can be used for the treatment of wastewater. It reacts with naphthalene to form 1,4-benzenediazonium cation, which is then oxidized by hydrogen peroxide to produce 1,4-benzenediazonium oxide. This compound is highly water soluble and has a low toxicity. The reaction mechanism of 1DNS involves nucleophilic attack at the carbonyl carbon of the diazo group by the hydroxyl anion from water, resulting in the displacement of a sulfonic acid group and formation of an oxoacid. The oxidation products are capable of reacting with other organic compounds in wastewater to form more stable compounds. These reactions will continue until all available reactants have been consumed or until all reactions lead to the formation of nonreactive substances such as carbon dioxide and water
Formula:C10H6N2O4SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:250.23 g/mol
