CAS:Ammonium hydroxide reacts with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in the presence of a catalyst to produce 5-(hydroxymethyl)furan-2-carbonitrile. Furfural oxidation takes place in aerobic conditions in the presence of a refluxing solution of ammonium chloride.
