    <p>4-Methyl-1,3-thiazole-5-carbohydrazide (MTZ) is a crystalline solid that has been shown to be stable in water and other polar solvents. It has been used as a precursor for the synthesis of sulfonyl chloride compounds. MTZ can be prepared by reacting benzenesulfonyl chloride with methyl iodide in the presence of potassium carbonate.
