(2R)-α-Tocopherol is a potent antioxidant and has been shown to have anticancer properties. It induces apoptosis in cancer cells by inhibiting kinases and regulating protein expression. This compound has been studied extensively for its potential as an anticancer agent, with promising results in both human and Chinese hamster ovary cell lines. (2R)-α-Tocopherol has also been found to be an inhibitor of ceftiofur metabolites in urine samples, making it useful in veterinary medicine. Its analogs have been developed as kinase inhibitors for the treatment of various types of tumors.
