:Polypropylene glycol monobutyl ether
Description:
Polypropylene glycol monobutyl ether, commonly referred to as PGBE, is a non-ionic surfactant and solvent derived from polypropylene glycol. It is characterized by its low volatility, good solvency properties, and ability to dissolve a wide range of substances, making it useful in various applications, including coatings, cleaning products, and personal care formulations. PGBE is known for its low toxicity and biodegradability, which contribute to its appeal in environmentally friendly formulations. The substance typically exhibits a moderate viscosity and is soluble in both water and organic solvents, enhancing its versatility. Additionally, it has a relatively high flash point, indicating good stability under normal handling conditions. Its surfactant properties allow it to reduce surface tension, facilitating better wetting and spreading of formulations. Overall, polypropylene glycol monobutyl ether is valued for its effectiveness as a solvent and emulsifier in industrial and consumer products.

CAS:
Polypropylene glycol monobutyl ether (PBBE) is a non-ionic surfactant that is used in the manufacture of plasticizers, lubricants, and detergents. It has been shown to have low toxicity and to be biodegradable. PBBE has been shown to activate the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) by binding to DNA and RNA, which may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with nitrogen atoms on the bases of these molecules. This can also allow PBBE to act as an emulsifier for water-in-oil emulsions. PBBE has also been shown in clinical studies to have antimicrobial properties against infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and HIV, as well as antimicrobial activity against hk-2 cells infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Colorless Clear LiquidRef: 3D-FP165829
