CAS 9011-14-7
:Poly(methyl methacrylate)
Description:
Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), with the CAS number 9011-14-7, is a synthetic polymer derived from the polymerization of methyl methacrylate monomers. It is a transparent thermoplastic known for its excellent optical clarity, UV resistance, and weatherability, making it a popular alternative to glass in various applications. PMMA exhibits good mechanical strength and rigidity, along with a low density, which contributes to its lightweight nature. It is also characterized by its ease of processing, allowing for various fabrication techniques such as casting, extrusion, and injection molding. PMMA is resistant to many chemicals, although it can be susceptible to certain solvents and stress cracking. Additionally, it has a relatively high thermal stability, but it can soften at elevated temperatures. Due to its properties, PMMA is widely used in applications ranging from lenses and screens to medical devices and signage. Its biocompatibility also makes it suitable for certain biomedical applications, including dental prosthetics and implants.

CAS:<p>Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is a polymerized form of methyl methacrylate. It has been used in a variety of coatings, including those that are used to coat the inside of tubes, such as blood vessels and airways. PMMA can also be used as an antigen in humans to induce an immune response against influenza. The sequences of PMMA are similar to those found in influenza virus and this makes it suitable for use as a vaccine. Symptoms of exposure to PMMA include eye irritation and allergic responses, including redness and swelling. The assay sensitivity was determined by measuring how much fluorescence is released when the polymer is exposed to xylene. Acrylates are monomers that can be polymerized with PMMA to produce polyacrylate-co-polymethacrylate copolymers, which have lower toxicity than polymethacrylate homopolymers or acrylates homopolymers.
