CAS:Quinoxaline is a heterocyclic organic compound that has a basic structure. Quinoxalines are antimicrobial agents and have been shown to be electrochemically inactive. They have been shown to inhibit signal pathways in cancer cells, including the cox-2 inhibitory pathway. Quinoxaline has also been shown to have potential anticancer activity as it can cause apoptosis of solid tumours, including those of the eye. It also inhibits the production of hydrogen peroxide and pyrazinoic acid, which are pro-inflammatory mediators. Quinoxaline is a potent inhibitor of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, leprosy, and malaria.
