:Antazoline
Description:
Antazoline is a chemical compound classified as an antihistamine, primarily used for its antiallergic properties. It is a member of the imidazoline class and is often utilized in ophthalmic solutions to relieve allergic conjunctivitis symptoms. Antazoline functions by blocking H1 histamine receptors, thereby reducing the effects of histamine, which is responsible for allergic reactions. The compound is typically presented as a white to off-white crystalline powder and is soluble in water and alcohol, making it suitable for formulation in various pharmaceutical preparations. Its chemical structure includes an imidazole ring, contributing to its pharmacological activity. Antazoline may also exhibit some sedative effects, a common characteristic of first-generation antihistamines. As with any medication, it is essential to consider potential side effects, which may include drowsiness, dry mouth, or blurred vision. Overall, antazoline serves as an effective therapeutic agent in managing allergic symptoms, particularly in eye care applications.

CAS:
Antazoline is a pharmacological agent that has been used for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. It has been shown to decrease the rate constant, which is a measure of the reaction rate between antazoline and colloidal gold. The matrix effect, or any changes in the reaction rate due to the presence of other substances, was observed in this study as well. Antazoline also causes neuronal death by inhibiting potassium channels and increasing intracellular calcium concentrations. This drug can cause bowel disease and is toxic to humans if taken orally in high doses. However, it is not toxic when applied topically to human skin or administered intravenously in low doses. Antazoline binds to benzalkonium chloride when mixed together and prevents its absorption into cells. This binding also decreases its toxicity on human skin cells.
Formula:C17H19N3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:265.35 g/mol
