3-Amino-4,4,4-trifluorobutan-1-ol is a chiral compound with an optical purity of >99.5%. It is used in asymmetric synthesis as a reagent for the preparation of enantiopure compounds. 3-Amino-4,4,4-trifluorobutan-1-ol has a trifluoromethyl group which is not present in any other amino alcohols. This molecule can be synthesized by reacting 3,3'-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone with sodium azide and 1,3,3,-triethanolamine.
