12-O-Tiglylphorbol-13-isobutyrate is a potent cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory agent that inhibits tumor cell growth. It is also an excellent neuroprotective agent that prevents the death of cells in the brain, spinal cord, and retina. 12-O-Tiglylphorbol-13 -isobutyrate has been shown to inhibit the production of pro-inflammatory factors in microglia cells. It is also a potent inhibitor of hepg2 cells, which are susceptible to activation by phorbol esters.
