It is used to treat bacterial infections, such as respiratory and urinary tract infections, otitis media, skin and soft tissue infections. Cefprozil inhibits bacterial growth by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which are proteins on the surface of bacteria that bind to β-lactam antibiotics and help them enter the cell.
