CAS:
4-Methylguiacol is a chemical that is found in the essential oil of cloves. It is used as a substrate film and in intracellular Ca2+ measurements, which are used to study the effects of vanillin on oxidation reactions. The 4-methylguiacol molecule is oxidized by an oxidation catalyst to form 4-methylguaiacol, which is then oxidized to guaiacol. Structural analysis of the molecule has been carried out and it has been shown that this reaction proceeds through a radical mechanism. Reaction solution containing water vapor was analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). This analytical method was able to detect traces of 4-methylguiacol at concentrations as low as 0.5 ppm.
Formula:C8H10O2Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:Clear LiquidMolecular weight:138.16 g/mol
