CAS 93-79-8
:Agent Green
Description:
Agent Green, with the CAS number 93-79-8, is a chemical compound known primarily for its use as a herbicide. It is a member of the phenoxy herbicide family, which includes other well-known compounds like 2,4-D. Agent Green is characterized by its ability to mimic plant hormones, leading to uncontrolled growth and eventual death of the targeted plants. This compound is typically applied in agricultural settings to manage weeds and unwanted vegetation. Its mode of action involves disrupting normal plant growth processes, particularly affecting cell division and elongation. While effective in its intended use, Agent Green, like many herbicides, raises environmental and health concerns, particularly regarding its potential toxicity to non-target species, including aquatic life and beneficial insects. Additionally, there are regulations governing its use to mitigate risks associated with chemical exposure. Proper handling and application practices are essential to minimize adverse effects on ecosystems and human health.

CAS:Controlled Product
Butyl (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)acetate is a biocide that belongs to the group of growth regulators. It is used as a herbicide and has been shown to inhibit plant growth. Butyl (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)acetate is also an agent in Agent Orange, which was used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War to clear forests and destroy crops. The biocide has been found in significant quantities in soil and water samples from tropical regions where it can be found at concentrations up to 10 times greater than those found in temperate regions. Butyl (2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy)acetate has been shown to be effective against sensitive bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Enterobacter cloacae but not against resistant strains such as Staphylococcus aureus or Escherichia coli.
Formula:C12H13Cl3O3Purity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:311.59 g/mol
