CAS:Benzotriazole is an antimicrobial agent that is used as a preservative in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and foods. Benzotriazole can be used to inhibit the growth of microorganisms by binding to the outer membrane of bacteria and preventing the adhesion of cells to surfaces. It also has properties that are similar to those of fatty acids, which allows it to inhibit bacterial growth. Benzotriazole has been shown to be effective against gram-positive bacteria in low doses. The mechanism for its inhibition involves intramolecular hydrogen bonding between benzotriazole and glutamate residues on the bacterial surface. This reaction leads to the formation of stable complexes that prevents cell division.Formula:C6H5N3Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:119.12 g/mol
