4-(3-Oxoprop-1-en-1-yl)benzonitrile
CAS:4-(3-Oxoprop-1-en-1-yl)benzonitrile is an enolate that forms by the reaction of a ketone and an organocatalyst such as a chiral alcohol. It is used in organic synthesis for the ring opening of β-unsaturated aldehydes to form β,β'-dicarbonyl compounds. It can also be used for the stereoselective reduction of α,β-unsaturated aldehydes to form α,β'-diols. This product has been shown to be useful in optical resolution of bifunctional molecules such as diphenylprolinol and anthrone.
