SEGPHOS

SEGPHOS is a chiral ligand created by Takasago International Corporation, designed for use in asymmetric synthesis. Developed subsequent to BINAP, it features a narrower dihedral angle between the aromatic rings, which was predicted and later confirmed to enhance the enantioselectivity and activity of its metal complexes. SEGPHOS and its substituted derivatives have become a prominent class of ligands for various transition metal catalysts, extending their application beyond the initial use in ruthenium-catalyzed enantioselective hydrogenation to a wide range of chemical transformations.
