It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of Parkinson's disease (PD). 2-(Propan-2-yl)benzene-1-sulfonyl chloride binds to the dopamine D3 receptor and inhibits binding of dopamine, thereby blocking the effects of dopamine on the central nervous system. This drug has also been used as a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer to identify regional cerebral blood flow in patients with PD.
