CAS:<p>Nosiheptide is a thiopeptide antibiotic that is a mixture of (E) and (Z) isomers. It is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, such as staphylococci and streptococci, and Gram-negative bacteria, such as Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Nosiheptide binds to the 3-amino-4-chlorobenzoic acid in the bacterial cell wall by competitive inhibition. This binding prevents the formation of an antibiotic-inhibitor complex with the enzyme cell wall synthesis that is required for cell wall biosynthesis, inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division.
