It is used in the synthesis of biologically active quinazolines and alkyne derivatives, which are used to synthesize biopharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical drugs. 5APTFA reacts with an alkyne to produce an acyclic compound that can be coupled with a cyclic compound to form a tricyclic or cyclic compound.
